Welcome to Rick Wetherbee's Photo Gallery. With a stock collection of more than 50,000 images, it's a challenge choosing just a few that showcase the diversity of my photography. Here you'll find a small sampling of the range in which I shoot. Be sure to browse the rest of our website for a look at some of my other images.

One of my favorite subjects to photograph are kids in the garden picking their favorite fruit or vegetable. What better way to introduce children to the joys of gardening? When Katherine came to visit, she proudly showed me her find, like digging buried treasure from the earth. These carrots weren't the best of specimens, but a treasure to her nonetheless. I have a large stock collection of kids in various scenes, and some have graced the covers of several magazines.

Butterflies, birds, and other winged wildlife is a subject I give great focus to. Macro photography of these creatures is always sharp and clear to ensure the optimum image. My "critter" collection also includes domestic and farm animals--dogs, cats, cows, and sheep, for instance--all in natural settings.

Cherry tomatoes on the vine are just a fraction of a large collection of edibles: including close-ups of growing in the garden or combined with other companion plants, being harvested, display of harvested edibles, and produce in the kitchen, with a diversity of recipes utilizing various foods.

Herbs are one of my specialties, both culinary and ornamental alike. Whether photographing the colorful blooms, textured leaves, or in beds or borders combined with other perennials and plants, I strive to capture the character of each herb. As my wife favors herbs when developing many of her recipes, I also have a collection of herbs being used in the kitchen and in food.

This Tuscan courtyard garden is my favorite garden that we maintain here at Camelot. The garden serves as my main outdoor studio, where natural light and over 200 varieties of conifers, shrubs, perennials, herbs and ground covers add to my outdoor photography projects. Various hardscapes, garden accessories and wildlife amenities enhance the photographic possibilities, as does the variety of winged wildlife, including my own personal flock of pigeons. Used as a backdrop or main subject, the Mediterranean feel of this garden adds a sense of Old World charm.

By looking at my picture you can see that I'm a portly kind of fellow. That's because my lovely wife is such a great recipe developer and cook--she even makes broccoli taste terrific! This gives me a wonderful opportunity to photograph all the goings on in the kitchen, from harvesting and preparation to the final dish. (It also gives me ample opportunity to eat everything she makes!) Once the dish is prepared for photographing, I bring it next door to my adjacent studio (or outdoors to our courtyard garden), where I can choose from a large collection of dishes and other accessories to set up the scene and stylize the shot. Several magazines have taken advantage of our ability to develop, stylize and shoot various foods and recipes, whether as one image or as a set.
